The
Imposing thickset figure on the cart in the Photo is that
of the Netherfield coal merchant,
MATTIE MANN.
In
1908, he and three friends began to practise part songs
in the parlour of his home in Dunstan Street.
Soon,
others began to augment the quartet and before long a
choir came into being.
And
so Mattie Mann has gone down in history as the founding
father of the Carlton Male Voice Choir.
