Fundraising
Carlton
Male Voice Choir, by way of its performances, has raised tens
of thousands of pounds since its inception, assisting many other
organisations with their fund-raising activities. Sometimes concerts
are arranged by individuals to raise money for a charity close
to their hearts but the Choir also devotes its own Festival Concert
every April to a chosen charity. In 2002, Rainbows Children’s
Hospice and ASBAH (Association for Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus)
shared the proceeds, each receiving a cheque for £1000.Also in
2002, the charity OSCAR (Organisation for Sickle Cell Anaemia
Research) was presented with £700. In addition to helping others,
the Choir itself is a registered charity and enjoys the support
of industry and commerce, the backing of local authorities, particularly
Gedling Borough Council, and the Arts Council of England.
