"The
Music Makers" .
As
Carlton Male Voice Choir approached its 90th Year in 1998, The
Choir wished to create a memento of its important anniversary
by the commissioning of a Trophy to be called "The
Music Makers" .
In terms of philosophy it was decided to invite Management of
the then Clarendon College to accept the Trophy. It was to be
awarded annually to a student who had achieved best all round
improvement and attainment of performance during the Year.
The college (now New College Nottingham) willingly agreed, with
a trophy presented to the first holder at the Choir's Annual Concert
in April 1998. The winning student performed for 15 minutes.
The Award has proved a great success, with now 5 young people
brought into contact with the Choir, which shows that bridges
have to be built with the young, and we have succeded in that.
The winners so far have been a vocalist; pianist; and saxophonist
with each of themgoing on to work for higher standards of attainment,
and we hope will remember their contact with the Carlton Male
Voice Choir.
