On February 2nd 2008 there has been a launch event for you to
meet beneficiaries and to find out about the Concert.
In
its Festival Concert the Choir will sing two new numbers which
have been written especially for Carlton's Centenary.
"A Song for Mattie" celebrates the achievement of Mattie Mann
who founded the Choir exactly one hundred years ago, while
"Give Thanks and Sing" is a medley of the most popular hymns based
around the Choir's signature tune, 'Deep Harmony'. The Choir is
delighted and proud that this piece has been written for us by
the eminent choral musician Alwyn Humphries who directed the renowned
Morriston Orpheus for so many years.
We're
always looking for Sponsors
-so if you are interested have a word with a member of the Choir
or email us at the Web site.
We
will be joined as guests a singer who has close links with the
Choir, Joy Marriott, also the wonderful Victoria Gray, (and you
can find out more here,BBC)
as well as the remarkable young violinist Florian Rago, who made
such a big impression at a Christmas Concert a few years ago.
