Carlton
sing in unique venue!
Carlton
Male Voice Choir has celebrated its centenary in style with
successful concerts in the Royal Concert Hall, the Albert
Hall and Southwell Minster, but our choristers were in for
a pleasant surprise when they turned up to sing at a venue
unique even in the Choir's long history.
The car showroom at Rainworth Skoda in Mansfield revealed
acoustics that would grace the great concert halls and the
Choir revelled in the surroundings as they performed a range
of songs from their lighter repertoire!
The unusual location provided the setting for an event held
to hand over proceeds from the 'Singing for D.A.R.E.' Concert
at the Royal Concert Hall.
Carlton Chairman Mike Curtis and President Colin Bailey
presented a cheque for a remarkable
£12,324
to Dave Gilbert, Chief Executive of D.A.R.E. UK,
the charity which educates children in the dangers of drugs,
smoking and drinking and teaches them how to make correct
life-choices.
..
Carlton
and DARE wish to thank Rainworth Skoda for hosting the reception
and also express their gratitude to sponsors Frank Key,
MI Electrical Solutions,
Pellacraft,
Phelan Printers,
Kingfisher Lighting,
Monk Estates,
Brydon Estates and
Graham Broughton (Osteopath),
whose donations helped make
'Singing for D.A.R.E.' possible.
